New Adventures!

It has been about three months since I have updated and so much has happened since then! I am back to work 2 days per week and John is in school. We have been extremely busy and sometimes I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. However I think that we are getting in a groove and I am becoming more accustomed to our ever changing schedule!

Diapering will never be the same! I think that I might be in LOVE with cloth diapering!! Even though our stash of diapers in very modest I have big plans for the next baby (that was not an announcement). I cannot wait to try pocket diapers, all in one diapers, flat diapers, flip diapers and more! I am not buying these diapers currently but when the time is right I intend to indulge my current addiction! Currently we use prefold dipes with a few fitted diapers for night time (they are thicker). I am rigorously researching buying more diapers that will be more user-friendly for grandparents, babysitters and traveling. I would like to transfer exclusively to cloth diapering and I am very close to a conclusion. I think that the Flip diaper will fulfill all the requirements that I have. I am super excited about cloth diapering our next little bundle of blessings (not an announcement)!

Our next big adventure is starting solid foods! I am not super excited about this because it is just easier to nurse her and go but I have got to start sometime and I think that she is ready! So today Adelle will experience the smooth texture and mild taste of Avacodo!
Our darling daughter is growing fast and on July 3 she rolled over for the first time and today she did it again. She spends most of her awake time on the floor and is just beginning to turn in circles and scoot around. It takes her awhile to move a few inches but she is moving! Mostly she kicks her feet and the motion inches her around! Today she is 6 months old! This has been the fastest 6 months of my life and I am sure the next years will fly by just as quick! I cherishing every moment that God has given us!

3 Months

John and I attempted our own photo shoot last week of Adelle.  This is what she did most of the time!  She loves her hands and she has also figured out how to lay her head down instead of picking it up.
We were able to get a few great shots

We also could not get her to smile!

Cloth Diapers Day 1

Well we have begun the adventure of cloth diapering! A friend of ours gave us a whole bunch of diapers and covers so we thought we would give it a try. I also purchased four used contour diapers and a few other diapering necessities. It took a couple of tries and a few outfits to figure out how to fold it correctly but I did it. Now I am messing with the covers. I am hoping to not have to buy any more covers but I cannot get the covers that we have to consistently not leak. On a positive note, I love the contoured diapers!! They fit her very well and are super absorbent!! The larger covers that I have seem to fit the contoured diapers well!

I currently have a head cold so my smeller is not in top condition but even with this disadvantage cloth diapering STINKS!! We have a large bag designed for diapering and keeping the smell in but unzipping it is a bit over whelming at times!!

I think that the biggest challenge for us will be for John to learn how to use these diapers. He is very willing but gets very grossed out by any kind of body fluid coming out of our baby. I am not sure how he is going to deal with toddler puke!! Last night he said that he might need to invest in some gloves.

Adelle does not seem to notice a difference in diapers (although she did wake up from her nap when the pee leaked all the way up her back). She is just as happy and content as ever!!

Sharing Recipes

I am inspired by my dear friend Noelle to start sharing recipes that John and I have enjoyed. I get most of my recipes from Allrecipes.com, Pioneer Woman and an assortment of cookbooks that I have on hand. Tonight we enjoyed a Mediterranean stuffed chicken. It was delicious!! I am still amazed (even after 2 years of cooking) how easy it can be turn out a delicious meal! Here is the link to the chicken recipe http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mediterranean-Stuffed-Chicken/Detail.aspx. I did not have feta cheese so I used a little blue cheese instead. John is not a fan of blue cheese and I thought that he would not notice if I only used a little bit. Well he liked the chicken but he could still taste the blue cheese. I truly think I have married a man with the most sensitive taste buds in the world! He has said in the past that one day he should be a taste tester!! To adorn the chicken I made hummus, pita bread and a green salad. The hummus was good but a bit grainy (any advice on how to make it smoother?). All in all it was a great meal! I am always interested in what other people make for dinner and am always on the look out for new recipes so if you have any suggestions please me know!!!

News

Well it was 12 weeks ago today that our Sweet Adelle was born! I cannot believe how fast time has gone! I truly thought I would be pregnant forever and now I am trying to savor every moment!! I have worked a 4 days in the last 4 weeks. I thought that I would be an emotional wreck leaving my precious little daughter for such a long time but I have been doing very well! My mother and my mother-in-law have watched her while I work and it is very comforting to know that she is not only being well taken care of but also loved!

This past weekend John and I went to see the Homeschool Performing Arts group in Seussical it was great!! Some of the kids from our church were in it. The musical is based on Horton Hears a Who and other Dr. Seuss stories were intertwined in the musical.

Uncle Travis and Adelle matched perfectly on Easter! They looked so cute!

CIO update

A while ago I posted that I was beginning to allow Adelle to cry it out before nap times and she is doing well falling asleep on her own. I was not very diligent at the beginning but after a week of solid schedule and a good routine she is doing much better. It was not as hard as I anticipated and I am no longer holding my breath every nap praying that she will not cry and just sleep.

I can hardly believe that it has been almost 8 weeks since she was born time has gone so fast!! She was out of newborn clothing after about 3 weeks and I am not sure how much longer she will be in 0-3 month clothes. She is growing so fast! We go for her 2 mo check up on Wednesday, I am excited to see how much she has grown!
This photo may be little gross but she was so cute so I have to share it!! She had just spit up and I laid her on my lap to wipe her face off and she started smiling like crazy so I took pictures of her, it was really cute! She often sticks out her tongue when she smiles.
All clean!
Bundled up for her first walk in the sunshine!

This is the best job ever!!  The pay is amazing and it is so much fun!
