Cloth Diapers Day 1

Well we have begun the adventure of cloth diapering! A friend of ours gave us a whole bunch of diapers and covers so we thought we would give it a try. I also purchased four used contour diapers and a few other diapering necessities. It took a couple of tries and a few outfits to figure out how to fold it correctly but I did it. Now I am messing with the covers. I am hoping to not have to buy any more covers but I cannot get the covers that we have to consistently not leak. On a positive note, I love the contoured diapers!! They fit her very well and are super absorbent!! The larger covers that I have seem to fit the contoured diapers well!

I currently have a head cold so my smeller is not in top condition but even with this disadvantage cloth diapering STINKS!! We have a large bag designed for diapering and keeping the smell in but unzipping it is a bit over whelming at times!!

I think that the biggest challenge for us will be for John to learn how to use these diapers. He is very willing but gets very grossed out by any kind of body fluid coming out of our baby. I am not sure how he is going to deal with toddler puke!! Last night he said that he might need to invest in some gloves.

Adelle does not seem to notice a difference in diapers (although she did wake up from her nap when the pee leaked all the way up her back). She is just as happy and content as ever!!

Sharing Recipes

I am inspired by my dear friend Noelle to start sharing recipes that John and I have enjoyed. I get most of my recipes from Allrecipes.com, Pioneer Woman and an assortment of cookbooks that I have on hand. Tonight we enjoyed a Mediterranean stuffed chicken. It was delicious!! I am still amazed (even after 2 years of cooking) how easy it can be turn out a delicious meal! Here is the link to the chicken recipe http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Mediterranean-Stuffed-Chicken/Detail.aspx. I did not have feta cheese so I used a little blue cheese instead. John is not a fan of blue cheese and I thought that he would not notice if I only used a little bit. Well he liked the chicken but he could still taste the blue cheese. I truly think I have married a man with the most sensitive taste buds in the world! He has said in the past that one day he should be a taste tester!! To adorn the chicken I made hummus, pita bread and a green salad. The hummus was good but a bit grainy (any advice on how to make it smoother?). All in all it was a great meal! I am always interested in what other people make for dinner and am always on the look out for new recipes so if you have any suggestions please me know!!!

News

Well it was 12 weeks ago today that our Sweet Adelle was born! I cannot believe how fast time has gone! I truly thought I would be pregnant forever and now I am trying to savor every moment!! I have worked a 4 days in the last 4 weeks. I thought that I would be an emotional wreck leaving my precious little daughter for such a long time but I have been doing very well! My mother and my mother-in-law have watched her while I work and it is very comforting to know that she is not only being well taken care of but also loved!

This past weekend John and I went to see the Homeschool Performing Arts group in Seussical it was great!! Some of the kids from our church were in it. The musical is based on Horton Hears a Who and other Dr. Seuss stories were intertwined in the musical.

Uncle Travis and Adelle matched perfectly on Easter! They looked so cute!
